Traffic Signal Improvements - Golf Links Road and Kolb Road

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019 crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to replace traffic signal heads with upgraded signals to accommodate flashing yellow left turn arrows at the intersection of Golf Links Road and Kolb Road.

Work at the intersection will take place from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Buy a Summer Transit Pass for Kids and Save Money Starting This Week

Buy a SummerGO Youth Pass for kids (ages 6 to 18) to get around town all summer long on public transportation. For $45, kids and teens receive unlimited rides on Sun Link, Sun Tran, and select Sun Shuttle routes from May 23 through Aug. 1. Pass holders also get a surprise at all City of Tucson pools, which open for summer hours on May 30.

Parks Commission Meets This Week to Discuss Needs at City Parks

The monthly Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission meeting will be held Wednesday, May 22, 3:30-5 p.m., at Tucson Parks and Recreation Administration, 900 S. Randolph Way.

The commission serves as a citizens advisory panel to the Mayor and Tucson City Council on issues such as recreational and park activities within the city, operations policy and procedures, user fees, park development, and park name changes.

City Recruiting Administrative Assistant for Fire Department

The Tucson Fire Department is seeking an administrative assistant to perform research and analytical work in support of administrative, clerical, and some financial and personnel functions for the department. Duties can also include assisting with budget research and responding to customer inquiries and helping in the resolution of problems.

I attended a ceremony to honor Jeffrey Ross, a Tucson Police officer who was gunned down in 1982. We unveiled a plaque in his honor on Thursday. Here is a bit from the plaque:

Grant Road Phase 3 & 4 project segment information will be available from Palo Verde to Venice Place. This will include design plans, land use planning, right-of-way acquisitions, landscape and streetscape designs as well as public art.
