The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is scheduled to complete the installation of the Adaptive Signalization Control Technology (ASCT) equipment along the Ajo Way and 12th Avenue Corridors, as part of a year-long pilot project.
Yesterday, the COVID-19 dashboard from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) showed 239 new cases and 1 new death here in Pima County. The now fully approved Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine offers the surest protection against a virus that continues hospitalizing and killing those who aren’t vaccinated. Full approvals of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are expected in the near future. There are many places in Tucson to get tested and to get vaccinated.
On Friday, August 27, 2021, at approximately 1 p.m. the Stone Avenue and Franklin Street/Toole Avenue intersection will partially reopen to travel.
Southbound Stone Avenue at Sixth Street will reopen to one southbound travel lane through the Stone Avenue Underpass. Westbound and eastbound turn movements to Franklin Street and Toole Avenue will not be permitted.
Westbound travel on Toole Avenue to northbound Stone Avenue will also reopen. Through travel and left turns at Stone Avenue will not be permitted. (See map)
The removal of existing asphalt, subgrade preparation and base paving work will take place at the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection from 6 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, until about 5 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021. During this work, the south side of the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection will be closed to travel. This work was scheduled to take place Friday, August 13, through Monday August 16, but was postponed due to weather.
The City of Tucson is proposing a change to the zoning code to make it easier to build casitas in Tucson. This proposal was initiated by Mayor and Council in November 2020 and has been developed based on input from the public and a stakeholder group.
After a summer layoff, Ready, Set, Rec! vans will be in city parks once again, starting with Ward 2’s own Palo Verde Park.
