Some concerns about the recycling monitoring project have come back to my office. I wanted to talk a little bit about it.
Since the city has had curbside recycling, Environmental Services has had a number of educational campaigns about what should be recycled and what shouldn’t. This has included public information campaigns in local media and inserts in water bills to remind people. Unfortunately, this has not been working.

Crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to rewire the traffic signals at the Park Avenue and Valencia Road intersection on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
The work is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., the same day. The traffic signals at the intersection will not be in operation during this work. Officers will direct travel through the intersection until the work is complete.

For the safety of the traveling public and to facilitate the installation of an underground 48-inch diameter storm drain on the north side of Broadway, Country Club Road, just north of Broadway will be closed to through travel from about 7 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 until about 6 a.m. on Monday, April 12.
Eastbound and westbound travel on Broadway will not be affected by this closure.

On Monday, I attended the opening of twelve new pickleball courts at Udall Park. To tell you the truth, I didn’t know what pickleball was until I was approached by several local pickleball players a few years ago. They wanted more places in Tucson to play their sport.
