Arizona Wildcat Hockey takes to the ice at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Arena this Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will face the University of Colorado on both days at 7:30 p.m.

Starting Jan. 15, Sun Tran Fare Enforcement Officers will ride select bus routes to help discourage fare evasion and unwanted behavior on the buses. Officers can issue citations that could result in fines ranging from $100-$2,500, depending on the severity and number of offenses.
Adding the officers is meant to increase the safety of passengers and drivers, make sure all passengers pay their fares, and help keep buses on time when issues arise.

The Tucson Police Department (TPD) is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit. Successful candidates from this testing period will be considered for any funded academy class(es) within the next six months. The earliest academy that will be filled from the list is July 2016, but that date may be adjusted if necessary.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.

The Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness (TPCH) is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to conduct an annual count of people experiencing homelessness in our community. TPCH is a coalition of community and faith-based organizations, government entities, businesses, and individuals committed to the mission of ending homelessness and addressing the issues related to homelessness in our community.

Through his two TV shows and late-night TV talk show appearances, Jack Hanna is a familiar name among wildlife lovers and the zoo community. The Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo is coming to Tucson this Thursday for "Jack Hanna's Into the Wild Live," presented in partnership with Reid Park Zoo. City of Tucson Parks and Recreation offers discounts that allow low-income residents to pay a 50 percent discounted fee for KIDCO, Jr. Leadership, In-Betweener's, Learn-to-Swim, and therapeutic programs. There also is a 25 percent discount for annual/quarterly passes at recreation centers and for a Senior Activity Card.

Tucson Parks and Recreation presents the 32nd annual Senior Olympic Festival, Jan. 9-31, at several venues throughout Tucson. The festival is a celebration to promote fitness, health, and an active lifestyle among adults 50 years of age and older.
Some of the events include volleyball, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and more.

If you're still looking for a way to dispose of your real Christmas tree, you can bring it (minus the decorations) to one of nine TreeCycle sites throughout the community. The annual program runs through Jan. 12 at sites in Tucson and Oro Valley.
As of today, the City of Tucson is offering Merry Mulch (wood chips) from shredded Christmas trees at Udall Park, Randolph Golf Course, and the Los Reales Landfill. Bring your own container and take home some free wood chips for your garden.

This position involves specialized fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency lifesaving, and rescue work. Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres and his staff want to wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year. The Ward 5 office will be closed Friday, January 1 for the holiday. The office will resume normal hours Monday, January 3.
