Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will be sealcoating several Tucson roadways over the next two months as part of the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery.

The dates, work hours and locations for the next set of roadway improvements are listed below. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather.   

Effective Thursday, June 5, the Bureau of Land Management Gila District, all districts of the Coronado National Forest, Saguaro National Park, Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, Coronado National Memorial, Chiricahua National Monument, Fort Bowie National Historic Site, Tumacácori National Historical Park, and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument will increase campfire and smoking restrictions in southeastern Arizona, consistent with Arizona State Forestry Division fire restrictions already in place statewide.

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department welcomes the Arizona heat and invites you to cool off at one of our 18 city pools starting Thursday, May 29 through July 30, 2014. Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will be the featured speaker at the Ward 5 Town Hall tomorrow (May 28), 6 pm to 8 pm, at the El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 West Irvington Road. Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day, a day for remembering the men and women who fought bravely and died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  Originally, known as Decoration Day, the holiday originated in the years following the Civil Ware and became an official federal holiday in 1971.

Today, Alamo Wash Park was "adopted" by the BASIS Buffel Bandits. Students from BASIS have been cleaning up Alamo Wash and other locations around town of both trash and invasive buffel grass. I was proud to see the kids congratulated for helping our community.
