The City of Tucson soon could send people convicted of misdemeanors to Santa Cruz County to serve their jail sentences. The two jurisdictions created an agreement that would send inmates with sentences of 10 days or more to Nogales, where the cost of housing inmates is less than at the Pima County Jail.

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and guests will play Christmas carols and holiday masterpieces, sing, dance, and tell the story of Christmas this Saturday and Sunday. There's also a forecast for snow in the Tucson Convention Center's Tucson Music Hall, and Santa will make an appearance.

When moving time comes, typically around the end of the month and the end of University of Arizona semesters, people occasionally dump their trash where it doesn't belong. Property owners are responsible for trash cleanup of items dumped on their property and abutting areas.
One option is to use the free Brush and Bulky collection, provided twice a year by the City of Tucson's Environmental Services department.

If you're planning to give the gift of a puppy or adult dog this Christmas, be sure to get your new family member properly licensed.
Legally, dogs must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed in Pima County, and there are benefits that go along with the tag. Your licensed dog can be reunited with you if it runs away and somebody finds it, and it also will be allowed to play in one of Tucson's many dog parks (watch video below).

Tucson Water and Arizona Project WET are offering a series of self-guided tours at the Sweetwater Wetlands, 2551 W. Sweetwater Dr. The new Discovery Program engages visitors through a journey along the path that surrounds the ponds and recharge basins. Guests can use a QR code reader app on any smart device to view the Wetlands in a scientific way as they navigate around the 60-acre site.

The Mayor and Tucson City Council next Tuesday will consider changing the rate schedule for Tucson City Golf, amending the structure from 110 rates to 24.
Under the current system, golfers pay different rates that depend on factors such as course location, time of year, day of the week, time of day, whether they are city residents, when they book, and whether they have any discounts. Under the proposed structure, the highest maximum rate (paid by non-residents in the spring at Randolph) would increase to $60, up from $56.

The World Boxing Organization's No. 1 world-rated featherweight Oscar Valdez, who grew up in Tucson, will face Ernie Sanchez in the main event of Top Rank Boxing's card tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC). The 10-round bout will round out the evening that also includes an undercard featuring middleweights and welterweights.

The Sun Link streetcar will transform into the Polar Express (or the Pueblo Express) tomorrow. Join Santa and Mrs. Claus along with their jolly elves to sing some classic Christmas carols.
Ring in the holiday season starting at 5 p.m. at the Mercado stop on Avenida del Convento, where kids and parents can make paper snowflakes to decorate the inside of the streetcar. The Polar Express will be leaving the station at 6 p.m. sharp with limited space available.

Sun Link streetcars and Sun Tran buses provide a cost-effective transportation option to the 46th annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair and 2nd Saturdays Downtown.
The Street Fair already is underway, and 2nd Saturdays (with a Christmas theme) is tomorrow, starting with events at 10 a.m. and running through the late evening.
