This Saturday, July 18, from 7-10 a.m, the Mayor and Tucson City Council are holding the citywide Mask Up Tucson Free Mask Distribution Event. The event will be held at six locations throughout the city, one location in each Ward, and will be an opportunity for community members to obtain washable face coverings for themselves and their families.

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are crack sealing and fog sealing various roadways throughout the City through July. Crews will work Monday through Thursday. The dates, times and locations where the improvements will take place in the next two weeks are:

Arizona is now recording 105,094 positive COVID-19 cases, with 3,653 new cases reported today, July 7. The total number of cases includes people who have recovered.
Of that number, 10,184 cases are in Pima County. There have now been 1,927 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona, and 302 of those occurred in Pima County.
Meanwhile, the City of Tucson maintains an up-to-date COVID-19 website that includes information for businesses, residents, and even activities for kids. The site is updated as information continues to evolve.

The Pima County Health Department this month launched a media campaign to help educate the public about how to find restaurants, pools, and attractions that meet the department’s COVID-19 operating requirements.
The program, called Ready For You, is tied to the Board of Supervisors May 21 Proclamation establishing required COVID-19 protective measures for restaurants, County-leased visitor attractions, and pools operated by resorts, hotels, fitness centers, and gyms.

The 2020 All Souls Procession in Tucson has been canceled this year due to COVID-19 concerns. While the actual in-person procession for November is canceled, many related events will move to live streaming, including the finale, and there will be virtual workshops via Zoom and other formats.
Many Mouths One Stomach (MMOS), the event's sponsor, says it will announce future plans on social media.

The City of Tucson created a new Participatory Budget Tool in English and Spanish to provide a summary of the budget and gather public input. Community members can assign discretionary funds to different areas of the City’s budget.

The Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) is reopening the City of Tucson's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program with new hours until it is safe to reopen at full capacity. The program has been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arizona just passed the 101,000 mark in the number of positive COVID-19 cases, with 3,352 new cases reported today, July 6, and another boom is expected soon after 4th of July activities. The total number of 101,441 cases includes people who have recovered.
Of that number, 9,873 cases are in Pima County. There have now been 1,810 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona, and 282 of those occurred in Pima County.

Today, July 6, is the last day to register to vote in Arizona's primary election on Aug. 4. A number of local, state, and federal positions are up for grabs, including a U.S. Senate seat.

If you lost your pet over the 4th of July weekend, call Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) immediately at (520) 724-7222 to file a lost pet report. You can also look through the list of pets that have been brought to the shelter.
Stray pets are held for three days and then become the property of PACC and are available for adoption, foster, or rescue.

Penzi, Reid Park Zoo's baby elephant, is now 3 months old and weighs 452 pounds. Overcoming stomach issues early in life, Penzi has discovered new food and is interacting more with her herd.
