The Tucson Police Department will hold another Coffee with a Cop event Friday morning. There is no planned agenda, other than a simple time to ask questions, voice concerns, and meet the police officers who serve the area. The gathering will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. at Elvira Elementary School, 250 W. Elvira Road.

Arizona Wildcat Hockey takes to the ice at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Arena this Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will face Colorado State on both days at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the TCC Ticket Office and Ticketmaster.

Today is the General Election in the City of Tucson and Pima County. You can vote at your neighborhood polling place until 7 p.m. If you haven't mailed your early ballot, you can drop it off at any polling location.

The Mayor and Tucson City Council tomorrow will consider offering an incentive for the Wildcat House Redevelopment Project. City staff is recommending the Council formalize the Government Property Lease Excise Tax (GPLET) incentive for the project after an Independent Financial and Economic Analysis determined the direct revenue benefit would be $2.7 million over eight years. The GPLET can provide up to eight years of property tax abatement.

The first of four public open houses will be held tomorrow to discuss the development of the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) 30-year, 2045 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
Citizens can share their long-term transportation priorities and identify where they believe the region’s transportation dollars should be spent. The RTP is required to be updated every four years in order for the Tucson region to receive federal transportation funding.

Reid Park is the Best Park, according to readers of the Tucson Weekly.
The newspaper cites "green lawns, jogging paths, ball fields, picnic ramadas, playgrounds, a swimming pool, a zoo with a baby elephant, a lake, a concert bandshell, a golf course, tennis courts and even a baseball stadium, now happily home to the UA Wildcats baseball team."

SOUTH SIDE PROJECTS HONORED AT COMMON GROUND AWARDS
The Home Goods Inc. Western Distribution Center and the Kino Parkway/22nd Street Intersection Improvement were honored at the 11th annual Metropolitan Pima Alliance Common Ground Awards, held Friday, October 30.
“These projects and their recognition show the renaissance of Ward 5 and the South Side of Tucson,” said Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres. “I want to thank the Metropolitan Pima Alliance Common Ground Awards committee for their recognition of these great projects.”

The City of Tucson's only landfill recently celebrated the completion of its first phase of improvements, including a new entrance, administration building, and more. Environmental Services Director Andrew Quigley and staff recently spoke with Arizona Public Media (AZPM) about what goes on behind the scenes at the Los Reales Landfill, which accepts about 1,500 tons of trash each day. What do the animals do when nobody is around? Find out as you explore Reid Park Zoo by flashlight, search for clues on a scavenger hunt, and meet some animals up close. The Zoo will provide flashlights and snacks at the all-ages, kid-friendly event this Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets can be purchased in advance. Prices are $25.00 per person for Zoo members, and $28.00 for non-members.

Downtown Tucson will be the host of a Halloween block party tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Beginning tomorrow at 2 p.m., lasting until 4 a.m. Sunday, Congress Street will be closed between Sixth Avenue and Stone Avenue, and Stone Avenue will be closed between Pennington Street and Congress Street to accommodate the party crowd. Also during those hours, Scott Avenue will be closed between the 10th Street alley (just south of the Pennington Street Garage) and Broadway Boulevard.
