It’s been a rough summer for Tucson with COVID-19, the Bighorn Fire and our ongoing discussion about the role of the police. With all of that in the news, I missed the passing of a great Tucsonan and a wonderful human being, Walter Feiger.

Walter was born in Kraków, Poland in 1927 and. He lost his father shortly after the German invasion in 1939. Soon after, his family was moved to a Jewish ghetto called Chrzanów. Eventually, he was sent to a labor camp and eventually to a camp called Sakrau.

TUCSON DELIVERS BETTER STREETS PROP 101 CRACK SEAL/FOG SEAL PROGRAM 07/20/2020

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are crack sealing and fog sealing various roadways throughout the City. Crews will work Monday through Thursday. Please note the fog seal work along portions of the Sun Link Streetcar route are rescheduled to September due to the current weather conditions.

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is planning a new 1.3-mile multi-use path along the north side of Mary Ann Cleveland Way between Houghton Road and Atterbury Wash Way. The Mary Ann Cleveland Way Path is part of the voter-approved Proposition 407 Tucson Delivers Parks and Connections Program that will expand the citywide low-stress biking and walking network.

Tucson Food Share feels honored to share food freely with anyone who wants it, regardless of their appearance or life circumstances. Most of their food is generously donated by local grocers and farmers who support this mission.

Mask Up Tucson

This Saturday, July 18, from 7-10 a.m, the Mayor and Tucson City Council are holding the citywide Mask Up Tucson Free Mask Distribution Event. The event will be held at six locations throughout the city, one location in each Ward, and will be an opportunity for community members to obtain washable face coverings for themselves and their families.

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are crack sealing and fog sealing various roadways throughout the City through July. Crews will work Monday through Thursday. The dates, times and locations where the improvements will take place in the next two weeks are:

Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 23 - 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Crack Seal/Fog Seal)
