Parks and Recreation Summer Activity Guide Available Now

Tucson Parks and Recreation’s Activity Guide for summer 2016 is available online and at all Parks and Recreation facilities, including administration offices, centers and pools. The Activity Guide contains information on leisure classes, summer KIDCO, aquatics, sports programs, registration, and the Discount Program.

Registration will open April 23 for City residents and April 25 for non-City residents.

Zoo Rhino Has Birthday

Female rhinoceros Yebonga turned 43 years old today. She's considered an elderly animal, and she is significantly older than Fireball, her exhibit mate that was born in born in 2003. Although Yebonga is too old to breed and isn't always on exhibit, Fireball has sired six offspring in his former home (The Wilds, in Ohio), and may be recommended for breeding with future females at Reid Park Zoo.

City of Tucson Holds Workshops on License and Sales Tax Reporting

Learn your rights and responsibilities for the Transaction Privilege (sales) Tax by attending a Tax and License Workshop sponsored by the City of Tucson Finance Department. Questions will be answered, and written materials will be available. Samples of sales tax records, worksheets, and monthly returns will be explained. You should bring a calculator and a pencil.

Children Have Opportunity to Shadow Their Favorite Leader

Children between the ages of 7 and 12 are invited to write a letter about their favorite role model (from a designated list of dignitaries) and they could have an opportunity to follow that person around on April 30, the day of the Children's Day Festival/Día del Niño at Children's Museum Tucson. The 10 a.m.-2 p.m. event is sponsored by Arizona Bilingual Newspaper, and admission to the museum will be free that day.

Free Legal Clinic Next Week

A free legal clinic will be held next Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at 801 W. Congress St. The event is meant for people who have defaulted on their mortgage, are facing foreclosure, thinking about bankruptcy, or want counseling on legal issues related to homeownership.
