The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) recently published "Our Mobility," a June 2020 report on the progress of more than 860 plan projects that were completed through March 2020. These projects have helped widen roadways, expand transit services, improve safety, and more.
The report shows the timeline of various projects, features maps and photos, and has a listing of bikeway, path, and sidewalk improvements.

The City of Tucson is seeking an assistant public defender to advise indigent clients on a wide range of direct and collateral consequences of criminal prosecution. This is a one-year, grant-funded position and/or a full-time position.
A public defender works under the supervision of senior and experienced attorneys. Duties include defending clients in City Court, performing pretrial functions, and assisting with administrative duties.

Protecting the traveling public on City streets during Tucson’s summer thunderstorm season is the objective of the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility’s (DTM) Operation Splash campaign. As weather patterns shift to bring moisture into Tucson, crews from DTM’s Streets Maintenance Division have delivered barricades to hundreds of dip crossings throughout the City.

Unfortunately, Arizona is now among the places where COVID-19 is spreading the fastest. We were warned about this, and it is one of the reasons why I pushed so hard to use a portion of CARES Act money for a testing and plasma program.
My colleagues and I have adopted a strategic plan to use the CARES Act money. The $95 million federal allocation will be spent on things from support for small business to aid for families that are facing eviction due to economic dislocation.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced that it has awarded the City of Tucson $950,000 to support a comprehensive planning project to improve access to public transportation. The funds are from FTA’s Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning, which assists communities that are developing new or expanded mass transit systems.

Pima County has a new website for residents to monitor the more than 7,000-acre, lightning-caused Bighorn Fire that has been burning since June 5 on the west end of the Catalina Mountains. The fire has since moved east and south, closer to populated areas of the Catalina Foothills.

The City of Tucson will implement a new payment system for utility services accounts (water, sewer/wastewater, trash/recycling) on Wednesday, June 17. All customers who pay online or use auto-payment/auto-draft will be required to create a new account.
The new system will be safe, secure, and easy to use.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero yesterday, June 10, announced the creation of the Mayoral Advisory Council on Racial Equity & Justice. The new body will be comprised of stakeholders and organizers from diverse segments of the Tucson community and will be tasked with identifying and offering policy solutions to address racial, social, and economic inequities within City government and the provision of City services, Romero said.
