Learn your rights and responsibilities for the Transaction Privilege (sales) Tax by attending a Tax and License Workshop sponsored by the City of Tucson Finance Department. Questions will be answered, and written materials will be available. Samples of sales tax records, worksheets, and monthly returns will be explained. You should bring a calculator and a pencil.

The City of Tucson has an interactive map to track the progress of the Road Recovery bond project. The five-year plan voters approved in 2012 spends $100 million to improve roadways in our community.
You can click an area of the city on the map and find out which projects are completed, planned, and active. Information also includes the number of miles in each project, and the ability to turn map layers on and off to narrow your search.

Living Streets Alliance is again partnering with the City of Tucson Bicycle & Pedestrian Program and the Pima Association of Governments to give away bike lights to people without them. Not only do bike lights improve visibility for both cyclists and others on the street – it's the law that bicyclists have them.

Fiber optic monitoring systems inside large diameter pipelines designed to notify Tucson Water of conditions that could lead to failure served their purpose once again. Monitors recently detected a series of events on a segment of 84-inch diameter pipe that indicate a potential weakening of the pipe structure along a transmission main that moves water from a reservoir near Starr Pass into eastern parts of the city.

The public will get its first chance tomorrow to see eight mural designs selected for the City of Tucson Mural Program. The unveiling will be held from 6-7 p.m. in the Joel D. Valdez Main Library's Lower Level Meeting Room, 101 N. Stone Ave.
The murals will be painted at various downtown locations between May 2 and June 6.

The owners of the building at One South Church Ave. are trying to sell naming rights for Tucson's tallest building. They would like to get a tenant into at least 25,000 square feet of space with the right to place their name on the tower in lights, said Zachary Fenton, one of the local owners who bought the tower last year for $32 million.
Built in 1986, the 23-story building previously was known as the United Bank Tower, Citibank Tower, Norwest Tower, UniSource Energy Tower, and currently is referred to by its address.

With high temperatures expected to top 90 degrees over the next couple of days, it's a good time to take advantage of splash pads at two locations in the city.
The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department invites you to cool off at the Catalina Park splash pad at 900 N. Fourth Ave. or the Marty Birdman Center/Balboa Heights Park splash pad, 2536 N. Castro Ave. Both splash pads have manual activation systems to allow residents to turn on the water features as desired, and they also have playgrounds.

Friday Night Live! continues tonight with its 7 o'clock Jazz Summer Concert Series featuring music from The LoBros. The two brothers who play trombones are Arizona natives and graduates of the University of Arizona. They perform original pieces that combine a variety of musical styles and genres including classical, Latin, jazz, blues, funk and music traditions from around the world.

Earth Day is today, but the day will be celebrated tomorrow at Reid Park Zoo. Ride your bike to the Zoo's Party for the Planet and get one free admission when you show your bike or helmet at the front gate.

The goal of the instruction is to increase participation in recycling in Tucson (Do More Blue) and reduce contamination in the blue barrels.

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) is creating a Pedestrian Safety Corridor on 22nd Street, from Osborne Avenue to the Union Pacific Railroad Nogales Branch tracks, near Santa Rita Park. The one-mile segment of 22nd Street will feature warning signs, flashing beacons, and targeted police enforcement of pedestrian laws. A crash analysis conducted by TDOT shows that between January 2009 and August 2015, there were 25 bicycle and pedestrian crashes with motor vehicles along the approximately one-mile stretch of the area.

Bee swarms are quite common this time of year, and the Tucson Fire Department offers some tips on dealing with swarms and not disturbing them. Most of the transient swarms will move on their own in a couple of days.
