Ward 5 Holiday Schedule

The Ward 5 Council Office, as well City of Tucson offices, except for emergency services, will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day.

Council Member Fimbres and the Ward 5 staff hope you have a safe holiday weekend.

Paul's Note - Sept. 3, 2021

Anyone who has lived in Tucson for more than a few years knows about our monsoon season. Last year’s monsoon season was, well, a bit less than what we would expect. August is typically our wettest month at just a shade under 2.5 inches of rain. We only had 1.6 inches of rain the entire monsoon season in 2020, running from mid-July to September.

Scott Avenue Closure

On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Scott Avenue will be closed just north of Congress Street for the Cobra Arcade Bar Block Party. The closure is scheduled to begin at approximately 9 a.m. until about 3 a.m. on Sunday, September 5.

The traveling public is asked to detour west on Congress Street and north on Church Avenue to access Pennington Street. Southbound travel on Scott Avenue approaching Congress will not be allowed through the intersection but vehicles will be able to access the Pennington Street Garage.

Paul's Note - August 27, 2020

Yesterday, the COVID-19 dashboard from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) showed 239 new cases and 1 new death here in Pima County. The now fully approved Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine offers the surest protection against a virus that continues hospitalizing and killing those who aren’t vaccinated. Full approvals of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are expected in the near future. There are many places in Tucson to get tested and to get vaccinated.
