Earlier this week, it looked like COVID-19 cases were trending down slightly, but this morning’s Arizona Department of Health Services numbers show new cases have increased again.
This is why it is still important to take precautions: maintain social distance and wear a mask when you are in public. Also, if you are eligible, make an appointment to get a vaccination.

At the request of Mayor and Council, the City of Tucson is considering changes to the zoning code to allow Accessory Dwelling Units. An Accessory Dwelling Unit, or ADU, is an independent housing unit with its own kitchen, bathroom, living and sleeping space, built on the same lot as a primary residence. These units have been legalized in other communities in order to create more affordable housing, support multi-generational households and provide more options for residents who wish to age in place.

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is planning neighborhood traffic safety improvements on a 5.6-mile corridor along neighborhood streets from Tucson Boulevard to Wilmot Road between 22nd Street and 29th Street. See the map below for the project route:
On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at approximately 4 a.m., northbound and southbound traffic on Campbell Avenue will be shifted to the east side of the roadway north and south of Broadway. This traffic shift will allow work crews to install a new underground water line through the Campbell Avenue and Broadway intersection.
My office has heard a lot of concerns about the planned Reid Park Zoo expansion. The expansion was initially approved by voters in 2017 when there was a ballot issue approving a new one-tenth of one cent sales tax to fund zoo operations. That led to a management agreement between the City and the Tucson Zoological Society the following year.
On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to replace a traffic signal pole at the northwest corner of the Golf Links Road and Wilmot Road intersection.
The work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the same day. During this work, travel lane restrictions will be in place for westbound through traffic on Golf Links Road.
