On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will begin a chipseal project on Irvington Road from Pantano Road to Kolb Road. Work hours for the street maintenance work will be 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crews are scheduled to be complete with the project on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division today began installing plastic flexible posts to delineate bicycle lanes from the travel lanes on St. Mary’s Road from Interstate 10 to Main Avenue. As part of this pilot project for Downtown Links Phase II, crews are installing 48 delineators, approximately 30 feet to 40 feet apart on both eastbound and westbound St. Mary’s Road. The work is expected to be complete by Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

In honor of Arbor Day, Arizona State Forester Scott Hunt announced that Tucson is one of 25 Arizona communities to receive the 2013 Tree City USA recognition. This marks the 22nd consecutive year that Tucson has received the award from the Arbor Day Foundation program.

AUTO MALL DRIVE - WETMORE ROAD TO ORACLE ROAD AND
WETMORE ROAD - ORACLE ROAD TO FIRST AVENUE RESURFACING PROJECT
On Sunday, April 27, 2014, crews from Granite Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Auto Mall Drive from Wetmore Road to Oracle Road and Wetmore Road from Oracle Road to First Avenue. These pavement improvement projects are part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the University of Arizona's School of Natural Resources and the Environment and Gridley Middle School to perform a tree inventory of Case Park. Representatives from the Parks and Recreation Department and the University will give in-class presentations to a class of fifth graders on the importance of urban forests, how trees contribute to communities and how inventories aid in keeping trees healthy.

Reid Park Zoo is proud to announce that it was recently granted
accreditation by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). Reid Park
Zoo underwent a thorough review and inspection in January, demonstrating
the Zoo meets or exceeds professional standards for excellence in animal
care, veterinary programs, conservation, education, and safety. In late
March, Reid Park Zoo officials traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for a
hearing by AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission.

The City of Tucson’s Fleet Services Division ranked 15th on the 2014
list of Top 100 Best Fleets in North America by the 100 Best Fleets
Program. The award program recognizes and rewards peak performing public
sector fleet operations in North America. The Fleet Services Division
operates the City’s motor pool by providing maintenance and repair to
police cruisers, garbage trucks, and other vehicles.

Beginning Monday, April 14, 2014 through Wednesday, April 16, 2014 Sun Link Streetcar staff will conduct controlled high speed streetcar testing from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on University Boulevard between Fourth Avenue and Euclid Avenue.
