City Manager Michael Ortega's proposed incentive to encourage employee retirements to save on labor costs won approval last night from the Mayor and Tucson City Council. The incentive offers three months pay for eligible employees who agree to retire no later than Feb. 5, 2016.

The Mayor and Tucson City Council voted yesterday to change the rate schedule for Tucson City Golf, amending the structure from 110 rates to 24. The new schedule takes effect in 30 days.

Tucson firefighters will make a special delivery to Tucson Medical Center tomorrow at 10 a.m. A custom-made Tucson Fire Department gift cart, replicating a little fire truck, will be stocked full of toys and delivered to TMC for Children. The cart will stay there year-round, with toys available to kids on special occasions, such as holidays, birthdays, or moments needed to make a smile.

The City of Tucson soon could send people convicted of misdemeanors to Santa Cruz County to serve their jail sentences. The two jurisdictions created an agreement that would send inmates with sentences of 10 days or more to Nogales, where the cost of housing inmates is less than at the Pima County Jail.

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and guests will play Christmas carols and holiday masterpieces, sing, dance, and tell the story of Christmas this Saturday and Sunday. There's also a forecast for snow in the Tucson Convention Center's Tucson Music Hall, and Santa will make an appearance.

When moving time comes, typically around the end of the month and the end of University of Arizona semesters, people occasionally dump their trash where it doesn't belong. Property owners are responsible for trash cleanup of items dumped on their property and abutting areas.
One option is to use the free Brush and Bulky collection, provided twice a year by the City of Tucson's Environmental Services department.

If you're planning to give the gift of a puppy or adult dog this Christmas, be sure to get your new family member properly licensed.
Legally, dogs must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed in Pima County, and there are benefits that go along with the tag. Your licensed dog can be reunited with you if it runs away and somebody finds it, and it also will be allowed to play in one of Tucson's many dog parks (watch video below).

Sweetwater Dr. The new Discovery Program engages visitors through a journey along the path that surrounds the ponds and recharge basins. Guests can use a QR code reader app on any smart device to view the Wetlands in a scientific way as they navigate around the 60-acre site.
