Tucson’s pavement conditions improved immensely in the past two years, according to a new report released by TRIP, a national transportation research group based out of Washington D.C. The report indicates that 32 percent of Tucson’s roadways are in poor condition, compared to two years ago when TRIP reported that 53 percent of Tucson’s streets were bad.

The Tucson Police Department (TPD) is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit (MPTTP only). The earliest academy that will be filled from this list is February 15, but the date may be adjusted if necessary.

Two developers shared their proposals last week for the Ronstadt Transit Center Joint Development Project and according to the Arizona Daily Star, early reactions to the proposals are positive. "I welcome and applaud it," said Tierra Antigua Realty's Kent Simpson. Both proposals would keep the Ronstadt Center as a bus hub, while adding housing and retail spaces.

Recognizing the value of local neon signs, the City's Historic Preservation Office has allocated $125,000 to restore some of these iconic landmarks. To be eligible for the program owners of blighted signs apply for Historic Landmark Sign designation, agree to keep the sign up for at least 10 years and pay 25 percent of repair costs. The Hacienda Motel and Riviera Motor Lodge signs are currently being restored under the program.
