Learn your rights and responsibilities for Transaction Privilege (Sales) Taxation by attending the Tax and License Workshop sponsored by the City of Tucson Finance Department. The retail workshop will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-noon, at the Murphy-Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. Questions will be answered, and written materials will be available. Samples of sales tax records, worksheets, and monthly returns will be explained.
The Sun Link Tucson streetcar officially celebrated its second anniversary yesterday. The streetcar system has served more than 2 million passengers since it began service. Connecting five districts in the heart of Tucson, the streetcar system has been widely embraced by locals, students, and visitor to the region. It has also become an important component in revitalization of downtown.
The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department maintains seven off-leash dog parks where dogs can run free and socialize with other dogs. Five of the sites are divided into separate areas for large and small dogs, and some parks feature dog training areas. Those who want to participate in the Aug. 30 Primary Election must be registered to vote by midnight on Monday, Aug. 1. Anyone who has moved, changed their name since their last registration, just became a Pima County resident, or would like to change their party affiliation must complete a new voter registration form.
The Loft Cinema's annual Kids Fest is underway and features a free, family-friendly film every morning this week. Staff from the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program will be at all of the screenings distributing free bike helmets. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. for pre-show games, live performances, giveaways, popcorn, and surprises. Work crews are completing the second of three bus pullouts at the Oracle Road and Prince Road intersection with a concrete pour scheduled for 4 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. To accommodate the work, the eastbound curb lane on Prince Road west of Oracle Road will be closed to travel, as well as the southbound curb lane on Oracle Road, both north and south of Prince Road.
The travel lane closures are scheduled to be in place until approximately 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin working in the southbound travel lanes on Stone Avenue between Drachman Street and First Street. To accommodate the work beginning on the west side of Stone Avenue, crews will shift all vehicular travel to northbound (east side Stone Avenue) travel lanes.
The City of Tucson is getting a $2.9 million federal grant to help an estimated 180 low-income homeowners with children under the age of six abate lead paint hazards from their homes built before 1978. The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes.

As a result of adding a third proposed fare increase option and a revised second option, Sun Tran has extended the deadline for public input on the proposed increases to July 31. Additional open house events are scheduled for passengers to obtain more information and provide comments on all three proposed changes.
The Tucson Fire Department (TFD) will partner with volunteers from Intuit Software to conduct a smoke alarm install event tomorrow morning at Country Club mobile home park, 5600 S. Country Club Road. TFD staff will team up with Intuit employees to canvass the neighborhood, installing smoke alarms wherever they are needed.
During each visit, the install team will educate and assist residents with fire prevention and escape planning.
