Fourth Avenue Street Fair: Sun Link Streetcar Temporary Route Adjustments

Fourth Avenue will be the host of the annual Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair this weekend. The Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair begins on Friday, April 1, 2016 and is open daily through Sunday, April 3, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Attendance for the Street Fair is estimated to be approximately 300,000 people, so please adjust travel plans accordingly.

Campbell Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Project - Grant Road to Fort Lowell Road


As part of the Campbell Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Project, crews from Pima Paving and Tucson Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will begin installing decorative stamped asphalt crosswalks at several locations on Campbell Avenue between Fort Lowell Road and Grant Road.

Tucson City Court to Close for a Few Days Starting Friday

Tucson City Court will be closed for business this Friday, April 1, through Monday, April 4, in order to transition to its new case management system, Arizona Judicial Automated Case System (AJACS). The court will be open on a limited basis next Tuesday with scheduled hearings and trials in courtrooms, but the customer service lobby and website will be closed. People having a scheduled court date of Tuesday, April 5, are expected to appear in court, unless they received a notice rescheduling the date.

New ID Card That Meets Federal Travel Requirements to Debut Soon

Arizonans who want to travel will be able to get an identification card this week that meets federal REAL ID Act security requirements. The Arizona Department of Transportation says its new Voluntary Travel ID from the Motor Vehicle Division meets security requirements to gain access to airports, restricted federal buildings, military bases, and more.

Paving Begins Tomorrow at 22nd Street Sewer Augmentation Project Site

Paving operations are underway at the 22nd Street and Alvernon Way intersection, as construction of Pima County's 22nd Street Sewer Augmentation Project begins to wrap up. Traffic is shifted to accommodate the paving equipment as its moves through the project area. Paving is scheduled to be finished by the end of the day on Friday.

Recycle Right and Help Make Recycling More Effective

A recent survey from the City of Tucson's Environmental Services (ES) department found that approximately 90 percent of Tucsonans regularly set out their blue barrels for recycling, but 20 percent of the material put in barrels is not recyclable. Contamination - especially food, yard waste, and dirty diapers - can ruin a complete truckload of recyclables. Plastic bags, garden hoses, and clothing also can cause problems.

Deadline Approaching for Business Accelerator Program

Startup Tucson's Thryve ScaleUp growth accelerator program will help 10-14 newly-started companies grow and create jobs. The businesses participate in a rigorous 9-week training and mentorship program, based on a curriculum from courses at the University of Arizona, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The free program is designed for companies that have been in business for at least two years and have annual revenues of $150,000. Startup Tucson funds the program through a five-year, $1.44 million contract from the U.S.

Expanded East Side Walmart Now Hiring

The Walmart Supercenter at 7150 E. Speedway Boulevard is adding approximately 50,000 square feet as part of a multi-million-dollar expansion to its Speedway and Kolb location. Walmart is accepting applications for about 80 new positions that have been created as a result of the expansion. Additionally, Walmart will offer a job to any eligible U.S. veteran honorably discharged from active duty since Memorial Day 2013 as part of its "Veterans Welcome Home Commitment".

Learn About 30% Design Plan for Broadway Improvement Project at Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite the public to attend an open house tonight to discuss the 30% Design Plan for Broadway Boulevard between Euclid Avenue and Country Club Road. The meeting will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sabbar Shrine Temple, 450 South Tucson Boulevard.
