TCC ARENA IMPROVEMENTS NEARING COMPLETION: CELEBRATION PLANNED - The Rio Nuevo Board is hiring the Beach Boys to headline a grand reopening concert early next year to show off the $7.8 million improvement project at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) arena. Work began on the TCC last March to replace seats, upgrade acoustics, renovate bathrooms and concession stands, add video scoreboards, as well as making other improvements. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The concert isn’t designed to make money (at $25 a ticket), but to demonstrate to Tucsonans and the entertainment industry that the TCC has new life, said Rio Nuevo Chairman Fletcher McCusker.
