Granite Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), is scheduled to install five overhead arches at the intersection of Sixth Avenue, 18th Street and Stone Avenue, in association with the Five Points Art Enhancement Project.

Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility have begun work on the Downtown Links project.
Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should anticipate intermittent lane restrictions throughout the limits of the project in addition to the following upcoming work:
On Friday, October 23, the intersection of Fifth Street and Echols Avenue will be closed. The temporary closure is scheduled to be in place for approximately four-weeks while a new sewer manhole is installed.

City of Tucson Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres, the Greater Southern Arizona Area Chapter (GSAAC) of the Buffalo Soldiers, and Tucson Parks and Recreation will break ground on a memorial honoring the contributions of Black Americans when settling in Southern Arizona. The memorial is funded through donations to the GSAAC of the Buffalo Soldiers and funds from Tucson Delivers Parks + Connections, a 2018 voter-approved bond program..

Temporary asphalt paving on the east side of Houghton Road from Valencia Road to Mary Ann Cleveland Way is complete. Crews from Borderland Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to shift traffic from the west side of Houghton Road to the east side of the roadway at about 7 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2020.

Crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to rewire the traffic signals at the Pima Street and Dodge Boulevard intersection on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
The work is scheduled to take place between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. The traffic signals at the intersection will not be in operation during this work. Officers will direct travel through the intersection until the work is complete.

There’s been a lot of national talk about mail-in ballots, but what gets lost in our local discussion is how long we’ve been doing mail-in ballots here in Arizona. Back in the 90’s the requirements were loosened for what were then called absentee ballots. Since then, Arizonans have been voting by mail in large numbers, usually close to 75% of the total vote. The fact that so many voters were voting by mail was among the reasons that Tucson decided to move to an all-mail system for city elections, leaving only a few polling places to staff for so few election day voters.

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, beginning at 2 a.m. crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) Sign Shop will replace overhead street name signs at the eastbound and westbound intersections of Congress Street and Interstate 10. The work is scheduled to be complete by 2 p.m. the same day.

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are fog sealing various roadways throughout the City. This scheduled work is part of the crack seal/fog seal program that was rescheduled due to weather conditions in July 2020.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at approximately 6 a.m., northbound and southbound traffic on Euclid Avenue, just north and south of Broadway, will be shifted to the west side of the roadway with one lane in each direction.
