South 12th Avenue Improvement Project Virtual Public Meeting

Ward 1 Council Member Lane Santa Cruz, Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres, and the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility invite you to attend a virtual public meeting for the South 12th Avenue, Irvington Road to Drexel Road, Transportation and Streetscape Improvement Project. Tuesday, April 28, 2020 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), will work on the following days at the listed intersection locations to replace traffic signal heads with upgraded signals to accommodate flashing yellow left turn arrows. Wednesday, April 29, 2020 – Grant Road/Campbell Avenue intersection Thursday, April 30, 2020 – Wilmot Road/Park Place Drive intersection Work at the intersections will take place from about 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Free Online Program to Help Protect Kids from Predators

The FBI is warning that as a result of COVID-19, children will have an increased online presence that puts them at risk. The 50,000 predators online at a given moment will have increased opportunities to take advantage of our children.

Power Over Predators recently announced the release of a new online learning program, offered free through the end of July. Schools, churches, and parents can register and invite their students to take the course at home.

Tucson Delivers Better Streets Prop 101 Crack Seal/Fog Seal Program – Houghton North Fog Seal

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), will begin a crack seal/fog seal program on various roadways throughout the City. The improvements are associated with the voter-approved Prop 101 Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program.

Residents Asked to Limit Trips to Los Reales Landfill

An increase in self-hauler business has caused extremely long waits and is impacting customer and staff safety at the Los Reales Landfill. Residents who are using extra time at home to clean their houses and yards are asked to only come to the landfill if absolutely necessary. Lines have been very long, especially in the afternoons and on Saturdays, per the City's Environmental and General Services Department.

Pima County Establishes Hotline to Help With Rental Assistance During COVID-19

The Pima County Community Action Agency has a new hotline to serve those seeking aid from the COVID-19 Rental Eviction Assistance Program funded through the Arizona Department of Housing. The hotline number is (520) 724-2505, but people are asked to go online first for eligibility information and an application.
