Broadway East - Camino Seco to Houghton Rd Intersection Work


    On Friday, December 20, 2019, crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Transportation Department, are scheduled to mill      (remove) asphalt at the Broadway intersection approaches at Houghton Road, Harrison Road and Camino Seco.

   Crews will work from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this work, there will be periodic traffic shifts at the intersection approaches and officers will assist motorists through the intersections.

Tucson Roadrunners Annual Teddy Bear Toss Next Week

One of hockey’s best feel-good traditions, the annual Tucson Roadrunners Teddy Bear Toss, is on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7:05 p.m. against the Ontario Reign. Bring a new or unused plush item to the game and toss your teddy bear on the ice after the Roadrunners first goal of the night.

All tossed teddy bears (and other plush animals) will be donated to those in need, with a portion going to AVIVA & Easter Seals in Tucson. In addition, the first 1,500 fans will receive a Desert Diamond Casino Hockey Bank upon entry.

Next Parents Night Out is December 20

Enjoy three hours of free time on Friday, Dec. 20, 4:30-7:45 p.m., while your kids have organized activities with Tucson Parks and Recreation. Parents Night Out will be held at William Clements Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Dr. The Jammy Jam Pajama Party includes pizza, snacks, a holiday movie, an art project, and games.

The cost per child (ages 5-15) is $5 (cash only). Register in person at the Clements Center by Thursday, Dec. 19. Call (520) 791-5787 for details. Space is limited.

Thrive in the 05 Quarterly Public Meeting This Week

The public is invited to attend the Thrive in the 05 quarterly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 6-7:30 p.m., at Pima Community College (PCC) Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave., Amethyst Room. There will be an update on the project and information about how to get involved to shape change and build community in the Oracle Road area.

Spanish interpretation and refreshments will be provided, as well as activities for children. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP.

Register for Spring Classes at Tucson Parks and Recreation

Registration is open for spring classes at Tucson Parks and Recreation. Classes include health and fitness, digital photography skills, pottery and ceramics pieces, and more. The deadline to register for spring session 1 is Jan. 6.

Operation Freeze

Beginning at approximately 2 p.m. today, crews from the City of Tucson Transportation Department Streets Maintenance Division will initiate Operation Freeze in preparation of freezing overnight temperatures. Operation Freeze is put into place to make sure City bridge decks are free of ice and safe for motorists to drive over.
