University of Arizona Wins Second Place in Annual Campus Rainworks Challenge

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced the winners of its eighth annual Campus RainWorks Challenge and UArizona was awarded 2nd place in the Master Plan Category for its “Against the Grain” project. The university's project involved enhancing flood protection through bioretention facilities with native plants and trees and using stormwater runoff as a water resource.

Mayor and Council to Hold Special Study Session This Afternoon

The Mayor and Tucson City Council will meet today, May 27, in a Special Study Session to discuss draft agreements for grants from the City of Tucson's We Are One/Somos Uno Tucson Resiliency Fund, in partnership with the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, YWCA Southern Arizona, and Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona. Mayor and Council will also discuss the strategy for spending CARES Act funding, as well as numerous other items.

Excessive Heat Warning in Effect

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for today through Sunday at 8 p.m. Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures could peak between 104 and 110 on Friday, lowering slightly to between 103 and 108 on Saturday and Sunday in Tucson and surrounding areas.

LONG-RANGE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN –| MOVE TUCSON SPANISH AND BILINGUAL VIRTUAL TOWN HALLS

 

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility presents two opportunities to participate in a virtual town hall for Move Tucson: Delivering Mobility Choices, a long-range transportation master plan in both Spanish and in bilingual format. Move Tucson is a year-long planning process that will create a mobility blueprint for the City’s future and identify Tucson’s transportation investment priorities for the next 20-plus years.

 

Move Tucson Virtual Town Halls This Week

The Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility invites you to attend a virtual town hall for Move Tucson, a long-range transportation master plan, on Thursday, May 28. There are two opportunities, either for call-in or through Microsoft Teams.

A forum for Spanish speakers will be held at noon, and a bilingual forum will be held at 6 p.m. Hear from the Move Tucson team, ask questions, and learn more about the year-long planning process.

Tucson Ranks No. 1 in U.S. Google Search for 'Homes for Sale' Since COVID-19

A LendingTree analysis of Google search data reveals the 10 cities with the largest spikes in online home sales. Tucson received the largest percentage increase in Google searches for “homes for sale” with a 164.71% increase by the end of April.

LendingTree believes Americans are resuming their house hunting online after taking a pause during the initial stages of the COVID-19 outbreak. Low interest rates and the anticipation that there may be fewer buyers appear to be driving renewed interest in the housing market.
