Late Night Streetcar Service Returns on Weekends

The Sun Link streetcar has resumed its late-night service schedule on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to offer service until 2 a.m. Hours of operation Monday through Wednesday (7 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) will not change. The extension of hours will be in effect through Dec. 14.

Streetcar riders can purchase a 1-Day ticket, SunGO card, or select another option. Additional service hours are due to increased demand from University of Arizona students.

Public Meetings to Review Proposed Changes Related to Notification of Public Processes

The City of Tucson Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) is seeking feedback regarding a proposal to change the method of calculating the required area that is notified for certain land use actions. The proposed amendment will bring the current notification process into compliance with a recent state mandate while keeping the required notified parties roughly the same as calculated under current conditions.

Parks Projects Planning Meeting Saturday

Ward 1 Tucson City Council Member Regina Romero, the “A” Mountain Community Neighborhood Association, and Tucson Parks and Recreation will host a meeting to discuss parks projects for Proposition 407, which is dedicated to improving City parks amenities and connections. The meeting is Saturday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Fred Archer Recreation Center (Room A), 1665 S. La Cholla Blvd.

City Hiring Well Maintenance Mechanics for Water Department

The City of Tucson is recruiting well maintenance mechanics to join its Tucson Water department. Mechanics perform general repairs and maintenance to wells, deep well pumps, and related equipment, as well as monitor water levels and pumping pressures. Duties also include removing and installing well pumps and related equipment and preparing pumps and pump rigs for installation.

Volunteers Sought for the Complete Streets Coordinating Council

The City of Tucson is seeking volunteers to participate in a new public committee that will help guide transportation investments over the next 25 years. Those who have a background or strong interest in safety, accessibility for all abilities, equity, land use, environment, health and recreation, economic vitality, and mobility related to transportation are encouraged to apply.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony This Week for Valencia Road Project

Celebrate the completion of the Valencia Road - Wilmot Road to Kolb Road improvement project on Thursday, Aug. 15, starting at 9 a.m. at the southwest corner of the Kolb Road and Valencia Road intersection. This project included improvements that increased roadway capacity and enhanced safety along the corridor. It was completed on schedule in 12 months.

Water Main Replacement Project on River Road Between Swan and Craycroft Roads

A water main replacement project on River Road between Swan and Craycroft Roads will periodically affect eastbound and westbound traffic. Bicycle lanes will be closed during the work and signs will be in place to direct traffic around the work areas as needed. Customers are not expected to be out of water during construction.
