A community celebration and ribbon-cutting for the newly restored murals at the El Rio Neighborhood Center, 1390 W. Speedway Blvd., takes place Saturday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m. Renowned artists David Tineo and Alfonso Chavez, with the help of local youth, have been working this summer to restore three of five murals from the 1970s.

Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting a free pool party and evening of fun at El Pueblo pool, 5100 S. Missiondale Road. The 5-7 p.m. party on Wednesday, July 17, will feature games, music, snacks located outside the pool entrance, and water games in the pool.

Two TV stations ran a story about a crosswalk on our side of town. I got some calls about it because it affected many of my constituents. There had been a marked crosswalk at Stella and Wilmot.
