Pima County Amends Rules on Restaurants

The Pima County Board of Supervisors this week voted to revise rules for protective measures some businesses should follow during a pandemic. The changes came after feedback from restaurant owners and others. The revisions include more lenient rules on masks, signage, occupancy, reservations or call-ahead seating, display of cleaning logs, and other items. Even as Pima County moves forward with the amendments, the proclamation is still being investigated by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office after some claimed the regulations are a violation of Arizona Gov.

Ward 4 Council Member Nikki Lee Coordinates with Raytheon to Help Youth On Their Own Students

Students without access to a computer recently shared how difficult it has been to participate in online learning opportunities with their class while schools have been closed. With Councilwoman Nikki Lee’s coordination with Raytheon, 30 laptops, computer mice, and backpacks have been donated to Youth On Their Own (YOTO) for students to have the opportunity to complete the school year.

Downtown Tucson Partnership Offers Another Bonus Gift Card Round

The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) Gift Card Incentive Program continues with another round of bonus gift cards this week. Round 8 begins tomorrow, May 22, at noon, with support from Holualoa Companies.

This round will bring gift card sales up to $280,000. Under the program, people buy a gift card worth $35 for only $25. That $10 bonus incentive is made possible through the support of a sponsor. Money is infused directly into the downtown businesses within days of the sale.

Fun with the Baby Elephant

The elephant care team at Reid Park Zoo says baby elephant Mapenzi, now referred to as Penzi, has an energy level that is "off the charts," and she loves exploring her habitat at full speed. In the video, you can see her play with water, wallow in the mud, and run around.
