You may have seen some small changes already - we have tried to make it easier for customers to find information on how to appy for a permit, submit their application online, and schedule an inspection. 

We want future changes to our website to be based on YOU and your needs.

Fun with the Baby Elephant

The elephant care team at Reid Park Zoo says baby elephant Mapenzi, now referred to as Penzi, has an energy level that is "off the charts," and she loves exploring her habitat at full speed. In the video, you can see her play with water, wallow in the mud, and run around.

Applications Now Being Accepted to Become Certified as a Green Business Leader

The Southern Arizona Green Business Alliance (SAZGBA) is accepting applications to become certified as a Green Leader. A checklist provides local and non-local businesses with an entry point to learn about, evaluate, and adopt cost-saving sustainability practices. Upon completion, businesses will receive an individualized virtual consultation, personalized recommendations, marketing promotion, and recognition for their leadership.

Traffic Signal Improvements - Houghton Rd and Mary Ann Cleveland Way Intersection

 

On Thursday, May 21, 2020, crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to replace traffic signal heads with upgraded signals to accommodate flashing yellow left turn arrows at the intersection of Houghton Road and Mary Ann Cleveland Way.

Work at the intersection will take place from about 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Euclid Avenue Travel Lane Restrictions at Broadway Begin This Week

The curb travel lane on northbound Euclid Avenue, both north and south of Broadway, will be closed to travel beginning tomorrow, May 20, at approximately 6 a.m.

This travel lane closure will be in place for about 30 days, 24 hours a day, so that crews can construct new underground storm drains as part of the Broadway-Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road Improvement Project. This project is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.

Reid Park Zoo Surveying Public about Reopening

Tucson's Reid Park Zoo remains closed due to COVID-19 concerns, but management is planning a way to reopen once it's safe enough to do so. Part of the planning process is a community survey to see what will make people feel safe about returning.

The short survey asks Zoo visitors how they feel about social distancing, face coverings, health screenings upon entry, gloves, hand sanitizer, digital interactions, waiting until a coronavirus vaccine is developed, and more.

Annual Desert Horticulture Online Conference Starts May 29

The 29th Annual Desert Horticulture Conference takes place online May 29-June 4. It is the premier annual conference for all members of the southwest green industry: landscape architects, designers, growers, retailers, contractors, maintenance personnel, suppliers, and educators. Areas covered include plants and design, plant health, and urban landscapes/water.

BROADWAY – EUCLID AVENUE TO COUNTRY CLUB ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT EUCLID AVENUE TRAVEL LANE RESTRICTIONS

For the safety of the traveling public and work crews, the travel lane closure will be in place 24 hours a day.
