Next Parents Night Out is Jan. 24

Enjoy three hours of free time on Friday, Jan. 24, 4:30-7:45 p.m., while your kids have organized activities with Tucson Parks and Recreation. Parents Night Out will be held at the William M. Clements Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Drive. Activities include pizza, snacks, the movie "Zootopia," an art project, and games.

City Recruiting Engineering Manager

The City of Tucson is hiring an engineering manager for its Transportation Department. The position will manage and coordinate the operation and performance of the Right-of-Way Permit & Code Section, Utility Coordination & Technical Review Section, and the MS4 Permit and Stormwater/Floodplain Administration. The manager will also represent the City of Tucson and attend construction and planning meetings with other governmental agencies.

Sun Van to Host Job Fair

A job fair to learn about current transit career opportunities in Tucson will be hosted by Sun Van on Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at its administrative office, 3401 E. Ajo Way. Sun Van is hiring drivers, a human resources technician, and a full-time phone clerk.

City Hiring System Operators for Water Department

The City of Tucson is seeking experienced water system operators to join the Water Quality & Operations division of Tucson Water. Operators are responsible for the central control operations of the potable and reclaimed water distribution systems. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is used to operate, monitor, and control water treatment facilities, distribution systems, and related equipment.

Sun Link Streetcar Late-Night Service Returns This Week

The Sun Link streetcar will again offer late-night service until 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The extended hours begin this week and run through May 16.

The new schedule reflects increases in ridership that coincide with the University of Arizona's spring semester. Hours of operation Monday through Wednesday (7 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) will not change.

Volunteers Needed to Prune Rose Bushes at Cele Peterson Rose Garden

Tucson Parks and Recreation and Friends of the Cele Peterson Rose Garden at Reid Park are seeking volunteers to help prune rose bushes on Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Cele Peterson Rose Garden, 920 S. Concert Place.

Volunteers should bring clippers, gloves, and rakes. Water will be provided. The Rose Society of Tucson will conduct a demonstration on how to prune roses prior to the project.

Know Your Leash Law

Unified Community Advisory Board Quarterly Meeting This Week

The next quarterly meeting of the Unified Community Advisory Board (UCAB) is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 15, 5:45 p.m., at the El Pueblo Neighborhood Center, 101 W. Irvington Road.

UCAB hosts meetings regarding the Tucson International Airport Area EPA Superfund Site/Tucson Airport Remediation Project and the City of Tucson’s efforts and commitment to provide clean and safe water to the community. Stakeholders work together to participate in the cleanup process.

City Hiring Groundskeepers

Tucson Parks and Recreation is seeking groundskeepers to maintain and repair facilities and grounds at City of Tucson parks. The position is responsible for inspecting equipment and facilities, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety.

Groundskeepers also operate tractors, mowers, trucks, carts, and transport equipment by pulling trailers. Duties also include working with user groups and volunteer organizations and assisting with setups for special events.
