Effective 10/01/19: Pre-Construction, Inspection, and Engineer Certification Process for All New Development Packages

The current process for a Development Package to transition from an issued permit to a final project is being updated. The purpose is to unify all project stakeholders and a higher level of project quality assurance by having a more consistent approach. This updated process will affect new Development Packages submitted for review after Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Development Package projects which involve any of the following are subject to the Pre-Construction/Engineer of Record Certification Process:

Third Street and Treat Avenue Bicycle Boulevards Community Input Event

The City of Tucson Transportation Department is planning two bicycle and pedestrian safety improvement projects. The Third Street and Treat Avenue Bicycle Boulevard projects will use neighborhood streets to expand the citywide, low-stress biking network by creating north/south and east/west routes to jobs, neighborhood destinations, schools, and parks.

Free Senior Health Fair at Udall Center This Week

The 2019 Senior Health Fair is Thursday, Sept. 26, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Morris K. Udall Center, Carol West Senior Addition, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road.

More than 30 exhibitors will offer health presentations, class demonstrations, and information on community resources, services, and proper medication and prescription disposal. There also will be raffle prizes. The free health fair is presented by Tucson Parks and Recreation. For more information, call (520) 791-4121.

City Recruiting Financial Specialist

The City of Tucson is recruiting a financial specialist to provide financial oversight of a major citywide program or comprehensive financial services to a large department, or to a group of small departments. This includes budget development and monitoring, financial reporting and analysis, grant management, accounts receivable, purchasing, accounts payable, rate setting, and implementation of strategic plans.

Progress has continued on the solar panels in the parking lot at the Ward 2 office. The crew was doing some work inside the building this week. The work on the panels and connecting it to the building’s electrical system will be done this weekend. Those of you that come to the office will see that the fence will be down sometime next week.

New Road Safety Pilot Program Approved for "A" Mountain

The Mayor and Tucson City Council this week voted to approve a six-month Sentinel Peak Park ("A" Mountain) Road Safety Pilot Program that will expand pedestrian and bicycle access while still maintaining vehicular access for the community.

Beginning on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Mondays will become vehicle-free days, meaning cars and trucks will not be allowed, and the vehicular gate will remain closed. On Tuesdays-Sundays, vehicular gate access hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sandbag Site Reopens Today

To assist residents with property protection from potential heavy rain due to Tropical Storm Lorena, the City of Tucson Transportation Department will reopen its sandbag distribution site today, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. in the east parking lot of Hi Corbett Field. Sand and sandbags will be provided.

Residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill their own sandbags. There is a limit of 10 bags per vehicle.

Water Resources Research Center Holding 2019 Photo Contest

The University of Arizona’s Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) is holding its annual photo contest on the ways water transforms our state and the ways our state transforms water. Entries must be related to water and taken in Arizona. The contest deadline is Dec. 6 and entrants may submit up to three photos in the various categories.

TENWEST Festival Returns Next Month

Hi Corbett Sandbag Distribution Site to Reopen
