City Recruiting Street Maintenance Workers

The City of Tucson is hiring street maintenance workers for its Transportation Department. The street maintenance worker I position will maintain and repair streets, alleyways, sidewalks, shoulders, curbs, drainage ways and rights of way. The street maintenance worker II position will work with the Department of Corrections Inmate Program and operate specialized equipment in drainageways and along roadways.

Operation Freeze - February 3, 2020


Beginning at approximately 4 p.m. today, crews from the City of Tucson Transportation Department Streets Maintenance Division will initiate Operation Freeze in preparation of freezing temperatures forecasted for the next several nights. Operation Freeze is put into place to make sure City bridge decks are free of ice and safe for motorists to drive over.

Sun Tran and City of Tucson Receive $221,100 Grant

FTA announces Human Trafficking and Public Safety Initiative recipients

The City of Tucson (COT) and Sun Tran were awarded $221,100 from the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Human Trafficking Awareness and Public Safety Initiative. The grant will allow funding for the COT and Sun Tran to implement solutions to reduce human trafficking, protect transit operators from the risk of assault, and reduce crime on public transit vehicles.

The commission that oversees the parks bond program made an important decision on Monday night for those of you that play either tennis or pickleball.

First, I want to give you a bit of background. In 2018, you and your neighbors passed Proposition 407, which authorized the sale of $225 million of bonds to fund parks and trail projects throughout the city. $5.5 million of that is set to be spent at Ft. Lowell, while $13.9 million will be spent at Udall Park.
