The City of Tucson Transportation Department has started the pre-construction investigative phase of work which includes; surface, subsurface, geotechnical, environmental and survey verification field activities. The traveling public will see equipment, work crews and short-term travel restrictions during this phase of work.
On Monday, February 10 through Friday, February 14, the contractor will perform underground utility verification operations within the outside lanes of eastbound and westbound Grant Road.
Work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
Tucson City Manager Michael Ortega recently won the John J. DeBolske Professional Excellence Award from the Arizona City/County Management Association (ACMA).

Operation Freeze is put into place to make sure City bridge decks are free of ice and safe for motorists to drive over.
Reid Park Zoo over the weekend announced the death of Baheem, an 18-year-old Malayan tiger. He started to develop conditions such as arthritis and chronic kidney disease over the last few years, and in recent months he had developed pancreatic insufficiency and chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
The City of Tucson is hiring street maintenance workers for its Transportation Department. The street maintenance worker I position will maintain and repair streets, alleyways, sidewalks, shoulders, curbs, drainage ways and rights of way. The street maintenance worker II position will work with the Department of Corrections Inmate Program and operate specialized equipment in drainageways and along roadways.
