On Sunday, November 24, 2019, the eastbound lanes of Congress Street from the I-10 frontage road to Granada Avenue will be closed due to heavy equipment utilization.
The work hours for this one-day project are from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Message boards will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closure. The traveling public can expect delays when traveling near the work area.

Bicycle riders can still register for the 37th El Tour de Tucson, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 23. The ride is for cyclists of all ages and abilities, with the main ride covering 100 miles.

City of Tucson Planning and Development Services (PDSD) has records available electronically via Property Research Online (PRO). Users can enter their address or permit number to find records information related to their property.
Available records are permits and plans (from mid-1950s to present), Certificate of Occupancy documents, and plot plans for houses in residential subdivisions with records continuously being uploaded.

Sun Tran has assumed responsibility for oversight of the contractor required to maintain and clean the 2,200 bus stops in the Tucson area. Sun Tran will work with the contractor to ensure the stops are power washed when necessary and free of litter, including cigarette butts.

The City of Tucson is recruiting apprentice utility technicians for the Tucson Water department. Technicians help maintain, monitor, and service water systems. This also includes resolving water service problems, monitoring and recording water usage, and providing emergency service.

Downtown Tucson will host the 37th El Tour de Tucson on Saturday, November 23, 2019. El Tour de Tucson is Arizona’s largest and longest-running bicycling event. Held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, El Tour is a fundraising adventure ride attracting cyclists of all ages and abilities from throughout the United States and worldwide. The 100-mile start line (and finish line for all events) is located at Armory Park on Sixth Avenue at 13th Street.

The City of Tucson Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) will no longer accept paper building plan documents submitted for review. Walkthrough service will be available, but the application and documents must be submitted in advance. There will be a grace period until Friday, January 31, 2020, for applications not submitted electronically.

The City of Tucson is hosting two community input events to provide information and receive community input on Roger Road Pedestrian Safety and Walkability, a Proposition 407-funded project.
The first is tomorrow, Nov. 19, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center, 1660 W. Ruthrauff Road. The second is Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the northwest corner of Roger Road and Fairview Avenue.

Northbound Stone Avenue, at the intersection of Fifth Street, will be reduced to one through-travel lane on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., southbound Stone Avenue, at the intersection of Fifth Street, will be reduced to one through-travel lane. All turn movements will be maintained.

Every Wednesday, the Tucson Audubon Society hosts free field trips at Sweetwater Wetlands, 2511 W. Sweetwater Drive. Birders of all experience levels are welcome to see the variety of species that frequent the facility. Field trips begin at 8 a.m. (through February).

The City of Tucson is hiring carpenters and senior fleet services technicians to work in its Environmental & General Services Department (EGSD). Carpenters are expected to provide skilled journey-level commercial carpentry work in the repair and modification of public facilities and related structures. Fleet services technicians perform vehicle inspections, tire and wheel repair, and change fluids, oils, and filters.
