Tucson Gets New Football Game

The Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl will take place Dec. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Arizona Stadium. Projected to bring $25 million to Tucson, the bowl game will feature teams from the Mountain West Conference and Conference USA. The Sun Belt Conference will provide a team if the MWC or CUSA can't fill the game. The Arizona Sports and Entertainment Commission (ASEC) made the announcement yesterday at the Westin La Paloma Resort.

City Helps Dedicate Kino Parkway - 22nd Street Intersection Improvement Project

Officials from the City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) gathered this morning to celebrate the completion of the Kino Parkway – 22nd Street Intersection Improvement Project. The project rebuilt one of the busiest intersections in Southern Arizona with the first grade-separated intersection constructed by the City of Tucson.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection This Weekend

Do you have unused chemicals, oils or pesticides sitting in your shed or garage? The City of Tucson is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection tomorrow from 8 a.m.-noon at the Eastside Service Center, 7575 E. Speedway Blvd. Drop off at HHW is free for City of Tucson residents. There is a fee of $10 for each television and $2 for each monitor brought in without a computer.

Donate Now Through Tucson Cares

The City of Tucson cares about the community, and now you have the opportunity to demonstrate your support to the City and the community we serve. All donations to the City are tax deductible and can be made quickly and easily through the Tucson Cares page on the City's website. Donation amounts begin at $10, and donors can pledge their support to one of four categories, including animal care.

Vista Del Rio Porch Fest

Vista del Rio's annual Porch Fest is this Sunday. Come down for music from local bands and enjoy a meal from our local food trucks. The event is family friendly.

Vista del Rio is on North Dos Hombres Drive, just north of the intersection of Tanque Verde and Pio Decimo. The festival starts at 4 o'clock.

 

Tucson Police Offer Free Car Seat Safety Checks

Car crashes are the leading killer of children between the ages 1 to 19 in the United States. In an effort to keep kids safe, the Tucson Police Department partners with Safe Kids Pima County to offer free car seat checks. In the Tucson 12 video below, learn about some common errors parents make when buckling their children into safety seats. The next car seat safety check is scheduled for this Saturday at Kmart, 7055 E. Broadway Blvd., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
