The Police Chief Appointment Advisory Committee will interview the four finalists for the position of police chief at a public meeting this Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Mayor and Council Chambers at City Hall, 255 W. Alameda. A competitive interview process was used to select the finalists from the recommended applicant pool. The finalists are Malik Aziz, Larry Esquivel, Rick Gregory, and Christopher Magnus.
The public is invited to attend the Grant Road Improvement Project open house, hosted by the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). The gathering will take place tomorrow, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Tucson Association of Realtors, 2445 N. Tucson Blvd. There will be a brief presentation by the project team at 5:45 p.m.

The annual Halloween Boo Bash is a fun-filled night with tricks, treats, entertainment, haunted hayride, storytelling, food, and more. Some of the activities include a costume contest, carnival games, and storytelling. The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department and Pima Community College East Campus are hosting tomorrow's event from 4-7 p.m. at Lincoln Park, 4325 S. Pantano Road. Admission is free.
The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) is considering changes to Church Avenue and it wants to hear public comments about the proposed redesign. Potential improvements to Church, from St. Marys Road to Cushing Street, include a two-way center turn lane for safety, a continuous bicycle facility, additional parking, and enhanced pedestrian crossings. The open house for the plan will be held Monday, 5:30-7 p.m., in the basement of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N.
A Community Development Block Grant of $458,000 funded recent improvements to Mission Manor Park, 6100 S. 12th Ave. The park has a new playground and swings, irrigation improvements, and a new ramada with lighting, outlets, and tables with benches. All improvements are ADA accessible. Other improvements include the installation of a new state-of-the-art energy efficient lighting system and a remotely-controlled scoreboard installed on baseball field one.
The Hope Network today is collecting donations of gently-used clothing, shoes, accessories, canned food, bottled water, diapers, stuffed animals, and personal care items. Today's event, which runs until 7 p.m. at Kino Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way, is the precursor to tomorrow's Hope Fest at the same location.

Living Streets Alliance is again partnering with the City of Tucson Bicycle & Pedestrian Program and the Pima Association of Governments to give away bike lights to people without them. Not only do bike lights improve visibility for both cyclists and others on the street – it's the law that bicyclists have them. The Light the Night event starts tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
The City of Tucson's Parks and Recreation Department's KIDCO program is taking part in this week's 16th annual "National Lights On Afterschool" event, promoting the need for after-school programs in the Tucson community. Bring a blanket or chair to watch singing and dancing performances by participants in KIDCO and the In-Betweeners Club (IBC). The free event begins tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center at Reid Park, and food will be available for purchase.
