President's Day Holiday Trash Pickup Update

The Presidents’ Day holiday will be observed on Monday, February 16, 2015. Residential and commercial trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday. All City of Tucson residential and commercial customers will have their trash and recycling service delayed by one day. The Los Reales Landfill will be open.

Speedway Boulevard at Woodland Avenue Streetlight Pole Replacement

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 9 a.m., crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will replace a median island streetlight pole at Speedway Boulevard and Woodland Avenue, one block west of Craycroft Road.

The eastbound and westbound median island travel lanes near the work, as well as the turn bay from westbound Speedway to south Woodland Avenue, will be closed. The work should be complete by 1 p.m., the same day.

TEP Replacing Power Poles: Golf Links Road and Swan Road

On Saturday, February 14, 2015, crews from Tucson Electric Power will be replacing power poles at the intersection of Golf Links Road and Swan Road. This work will affect the traffic signals at the intersection. Tucson Police Officers will be directing traffic through the intersection. The work is scheduled to take place from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The traveling public can expect delays when driving or bicycling in this work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and police officers, and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

Closures on I-10 ramp and on Kino Parkway to be in place until early Friday

TUCSON — Motorists traveling east on Interstate 10 and Kino Parkway in Tucson will encounter travel restrictions Thursday night while the Arizona Department of Transportation continues a project to replace highway signs.

The installation of a 23-foot wide sign spanning Kino Parkway south of I-10 will require the following closures from 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 until approximately 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13:

D-M deploys 1,100 Airmen around the globe

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz.— Approximately 1,100 Airmen have been tasked to deploy from D-M during the first three months of 2015, more than twice the normal amount.Typically, the base would have around 500 Airmen deployed at any given time which makes this deployment a significant increase.This deployment includes Airmen from the 563rd Rescue Group, 55th Electronic Combat Group, 355th Mission Support Group and the 354th Fighter Squadron, including 12 A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft.

At a press conference this afternoon, Governor Ducey ordered that Arizona State flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff today, February 10, until sunset tomorrow, February 11, in honor of Kayla Mueller, a dedicated humanitarian aid worker and citizen of Arizona.
