Sun Link will celebrate its first anniversary tomorrow with free rides all day, sponsored by Friends of the Tucson Streetcar, Tucson Medical Center and Tucson Electric Power. The KXCI Presents: Sun Link Summer in the City Concert Series also will hold a special concert. Award-winning vocalist Crystal Stark will perform on a streetcar at 7 p.m., starting at the stop on Avenida del Convento and Congress (across from Mercado San Agustin).
Two developers shared their proposals this week for the Ronstadt Transit Center Joint Development Project. Both projects would keep the Ronstadt Center as a bus hub, while adding housing and retail spaces. After that, the proposals are quite different.
Tucson Water crews will need to shut down a water line to complete work in the area of North Oracle Road and West Magee Road. The water outage is scheduled to start at midnight tomorrow night and extend until Sunday at 5 a.m. The work will result in a temporary outage of water service to approximately 1,300 customers in an area roughly bounded by Calle Concordia to the north, North First Avenue to the east, West Chapala Drive to the south, and North Wanda Road to the west. Tucson Water staff has notified all affected residents.
As part of routine cleaning over the summer months, three Parks and Recreation centers will close next Monday. Freedom Center will be closed until July 29; Archer Center will shut down until Aug. 1; and Cherry Avenue Center will be closed until July 28. Other centers will close at different times. GRANT ROAD/SILVERBELL ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
On Monday, July 27, 2015, crews from Hunter Construction Company, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will begin work to widen the Grant Road and Silverbell Road intersection. This work is part of the Silverbell Road: Goret Road to Grant Road Widening Project, a project funded through the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and regional dollars. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and night work.
The deadline to submit arguments about November's ballot propositions is Aug. 5. There will be three Charter change questions on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot, along with a citizen's initiative to ban red light cameras in the City of Tucson. Arguments will be included in the sample ballot/publicity pamphlet for the election. That pamphlet will be mailed to each household with a registered voter in the City.

The Tucson Police Foundation and officers from the Tucson Police Department (TPD) are hosting the 3rd Annual Back to School Safety & Health Fair this weekend. The event will be held Saturday, 10 a.m.– 1 p.m., at Park Place Mall center court and by Sears. There will be several booths providing free school supplies (while supplies last), safety and health information, screenings, and demonstrations.
The City of Tucson will host public presentations tonight of the two proposals for the Ronstadt Transit Center Joint Development Project, with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and fill out comment cards. The Alexander Company/Oasis Tucson and Peach Properties will each present a design concept for mixed-use, multi-modal development to be located on the 4.7-acre downtown site.

Tucson City Council Member Shirley Scott's Ward 4 office will hold its 15th annual "Back to School Bash and Pancake Breakfast" a week from this Saturday. There will be free school supplies for all children, including backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, etc. There also will be vendors and raffle prizes, such as tablets and bikes.
