Join Architecture Week Home Tour

The 2015 Architecture Week Home Tour will focus on past and present desert dwellings. The tours take place this Sunday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., featuring six of Tucson’s top historic and contemporary properties. Sponsored by the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Architecture Week highlights some of Tucson's most innovative architecture. City Parks and Recreation Director Elected to National Group

Tucson Parks and Recreation Director Fred Gray is now an elected member of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. Gray was inducted recently at the group's annual meeting at the National Recreation and Park Association Congress. The academy is a group of distinguished practitioners and educators who are leaders in the field of park and recreation.

Second Area Restored in Historic TCC Plaza

A second area between the Tucson Music Hall and the Leo Rich Theater has been renovated to its 1970s glory and will open this weekend. Demonstration Area II is part of the Eckbo landscape, a nearly six-acre space that sits north of the Tucson Convention Center (TCC). Work on the park was funded by a private group called TCC Today, which hopes to renew and maintain the TCC, including the Music Hall, Leo Rich Theater, Arena, and the Eckbo landscape.

TUCSON - The 48 Hour MASH Free Spay/Neuter Clinic held October 9 through 11, at Los Ranchitos Elementary School was a huge success!

A total of 424 dogs and 376 cats were spayed and neutered and another 350 were scheduled for free spay, neuter and vaccinations at a future time.

The goal for the event was 500 animals.

New Artwork Debuts Tomorrow at Mayor's Galley

The Tucson Pima Arts Council (TPAC) and Mayor Jonathan Rothschild's office present the sixth exhibit co-produced for the Mayor’s Gallery. This year’s collection celebrates the Sonoran outdoors with a collection of plein air paintings by four local artists. Plein air refers to the act of painting in outdoor daylight, a type of painting most notably used by French Impressionists and seen in works like Monet’s Water Lilies.

Be Sure to Vote Both Sides of Ballot

Now that early ballots have arrived for those who requested them for the consolidated General Election, the Pima County Elections Department is encouraging voters in the City of Tucson and Town of Oro Valley to be sure to flip over their ballots, because there are questions on both sides. There is an instruction at the bottom of the ballot reminding people to vote both sides of the ballot, but election officials have received calls and comments from voters that their ballot seemed incomplete, not realizing they needed to turn it over.
