City of Tucson Launches Smart-Phone Application for Parking

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s Park Tucson Division today launched GoTucson, a service that will allow motorists to pay for on-street parking through a mobile application.  Developed in partnership with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Passport, GoTucson will provide a convenient, easy-to-use, and intuitive means of paying for metered parking throughout Downtown and in the districts along the Sun Link Streetcar corridor.

SIXTH AVENUE AND TOOLE AVENUE
INTERSECTION CLOSURE

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract
with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will be installing
underground conduit for the installation of new and permanent traffic
signals at Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue.

This work will require the closure of the Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue
intersection from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., including the Sixth Avenue
Underpass, on the following nights:

The TreeCycle Collection sites closed on Sunday, January 11, 2015 and the trees collected will be chipped. The chips will continue to be available to residents at the Udall Park recycling area, Randolph Golf Course parking lot, and the Los Reales Landfill.

Campbell Avenue - Broadway to Third Street Resurfacing Project: Updated Schedule

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to complete the milling (removing asphalt) and repaving work on Campbell Avenue from Broadway to Third Street during the week of Monday, January 19, 2015.

Crews will mill the roadway on Monday, January 19, 2015 and repave Campbell Avenue on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 and Wednesday January 21, 2015. To minimize impacts to the adjacent residents, work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue Intersection Closure

25th Annual Pueblo Gardens MLK Breakfast - January 17

The Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association will be hosting their 25th Annual Martin Luther King Breakfast Saturday, January 17, at the Holmes Tuttle Boys and Girls Club, located at 2585 East 36th Street in Ward 5.

 

Doors will open at 7:15 am and the breakfast begins at 8:00 am sharp.

 

I want to congratulate James Christopher of the Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association and his committee for their work organizing this breakfast for these 25 years.  It is the only neighborhood association in Tucson to hold such an event.

The Trees for Tucson program is now open for requests for low-cost trees for home delivery in the popular spring planting period. While trees can be planted throughout the year in the Tucson area, planting in the spring when trees are coming out of dormancy and the temperature is still cooler can ensure successful, healthy trees.
