Tickets on Sale for Reid Park Zoo's Annual Fundraiser

ZOOcson 2015 is coming to Reid Park Zoo on Oct. 19, 6-9 p.m. More than 800 attendees will take part in the event benefiting the Zoo's exhibits, education programs, conservation efforts and capital projects. Approximately 25 of Tucson’s restaurants provide small-plate tastings at stations throughout the Zoo. Attendees participate in silent and live auctions, which include items ranging from power tools, vacation getaways, and unique Zoo experiences. There also will be live music.

Celebrate Modernism This Week

Several events are scheduled this week to recognize Modernism Week in Tucson. Tour the Modernism architecture of the "Sunshine Mile" this Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit homes from the 1950s on Broadway Boulevard, between Euclid and Country Club. City Offering Tax Amnesty Program

The City of Tucson is offering the business community a Tax Amnesty Program. This rare opportunity allows Tucson business owners to submit delinquent sales tax or license fees without penalty and reduced interest due on delinquent balances. This also is an opportunity for unlicensed Tucson businesses to get licensed without penalty.

The amnesty period will run through Oct. 30. During the last Tax Amnesty Program in 2009, 598 businesses participated.

Open Houses Continue for Tucson Parks and Recreation Five-Year Master Plan

The Tucson Parks and Recreation department will hold more community-wide open houses this week to gather public input on how it can best deliver recreation and leisure opportunities. The draft five-year master plan anticipates future needs and outlines the actions necessary to deliver high-quality recreation facilities, programs, and services to the Tucson area.

Job Opportunity: Paid Intern for Environmental Services

The City of Tucson Environmental Services department is seeking a Public Information Intern to help with customer communication efforts via its website and social media. The intern will be instrumental in coordinating social media efforts by researching and planning communication strategies with input from community outreach activities. This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent basis.

Tucson Pops Orchestra Performs This Weekend

Tucson Parks and Recreation Department and the Tucson POPS Orchestra invite you to attend the last of the September concert series this Sunday. The free “Music Under the Stars™” concert at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center in Reid Park begins at 7 p.m. The concerts, under the direction of Maestro László Veres, have been focusing the spotlight on the many talents of the Tucson Pops Orchestra.
