Register for Fall Adult Slowpitch Softball Leagues

The Tucson Parks and Recreation department is now accepting mail-in registrations for the Fall Adult Slowpitch Softball Leagues. Register in person at the Sports Unit, 920 S. Randolph Way, from July 5-31. The cost is $316 per team of 15 players and $5 for each additional player.

City Hiring Litigation Support Clerks

The City of Tucson is recruiting litigation support clerks to work in the City Attorney’s Office. These positions provide a wide variety of routine to difficult litigation support to the office's Criminal Division.

They also provide assistance to the public, including defendants, public defenders, private counsel, victims, witnesses, and other government agency personnel. Much of the work is confidential and deadline intensive.

Houghton Road Update

Valencia Road to Mary Ann Cleveland Way: Utility relocation work is being conducted along South Houghton Road between Valencia Road and Mary Ann Cleveland Way in advance of the City of Tucson roadway improvement project in that segment. Crews for both Century Link and Southwest Gas have been relocating or replacing underground lines since early June. The telecommunications work is scheduled for completion inearly September, while the gas line replacement is expected to continue into winter of 2019.

Many of you know about our household hazardous waste drop off we have at the east side complex on the first Saturday. That normally means we’d be due for one next Saturday (July 6th). Unfortunately, because of the July 4th holiday, the Environmental Services Department was not able to get the volunteers that normally staff the drop off.

Final Paving at Kolb and Valencia Intersection Set to Begin This Weekend

Final paving operations are scheduled at the intersection of Valencia Road and Kolb Road beginning Sunday, June 30, at 7 p.m. through Monday, July 1, at approximately 6 a.m. During that time, there will be limited access through the intersection.

One lane of travel will be maintained in each direction. As paving equipment moves through the intersection, motorists could experience major delays.

Tucson and Pima IDA Housing-Assistance Programs Help Fund Homeless Programs in Pima County

The Tucson and Pima County Industrial Development Authorities (IDAs), together with their longtime partners in the Tucson Pathways to Purchase Program, have contributed more than $5 million to the Tucson/Pima County Rapid Rehousing Program. The program is a collaboration of the Arizona Department of Housing and the IDAs to help individuals and families in Pima County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Community Food Bank Looking for Summer Volunteers

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona needs volunteers to help pack food bags this summer. The hours are from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Individuals and groups are welcome. Volunteers need to be age 16 and older. All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.

Reid Park Zoo's Summer Safari Saturday Nights Program Continues This Weekend

Reid Park Zoo’s annual Summer Safari Saturday Nights program runs 6-8 p.m. every Saturday until Aug. 17. Enjoy the Zoo during cooler evening temperatures with added fun, including live music from local bands, games, inflatables, food and drink specials, face painting, glitter tattoos, animal encounters, zookeeper chats, and themed evenings.
