Downtown Links Pre-Construction Traffic Alert

On Monday, November 18, 2019, Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), under contract with the City of Tucson Transportation Department, will begin pre-construction field activities, which are scheduled to continue through the end of December 2019. The traveling public will see equipment, work crews and short-term traffic control during this phase of work which includes; surface, subsurface, geotechnical, environmental and survey verifications. The traveling public should anticipate the following restrictions:

Chuck Ford passed away last week. He ably represented the residents of Ward 4 for two terms from 1979 to 1987.

My family and his shared meals together and I golfed with him occasionally. What was always great about speaking to him was his relentless positivity about our community. He knew we had problems, but he loved Tucson and Tucsonans.

City Recruiting Traffic Control Technician

The City of Tucson is hiring a traffic control technician to work in its Transportation Department. The position is in the Sign Shop area of the Traffic Maintenance Division and assists in the repair, removal, and installation of street signs and roadway markings. Other duties include setting up safety equipment and traffic control devices for the safety of the work crews and motorists.

The United States Census Bureau offers a sample of the paper questionnaire that will be used during the 2020 Census on April 1, 2020. The census is important to determine distribution of federal funds and representation in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Households will be able to respond to the 2020 Census online, over the phone, or through a paper questionnaire. The bureau estimates that completing the questionnaire will take 10 minutes on average.

Houghton Road UPRR Bridges to I-10 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The City of Tucson Transportation Department, Pima County and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Houghton Road bridges over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), as well as the 1.2-mile project from the UPRR bridges to Interstate 10.
