Public Meeting on Residential Recycling Collection to Every Other Week Starting Sept. 30

The City of Tucson’s Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) will change residential recycling collection from every week to every other week beginning the week of Sept. 30.
*The frequency of recycling collection is the only change.
*The day of the week for collection will not change – (i.e. if a resident’s regular collection day is Monday, it will continue to be Monday, just every other Monday) There will be no changes to trash collection.

Return Your Voted Ballot by Wednesday

The Tucson City Clerk's Office says the deadline for voters to return their voted ballots by mail is Wednesday, Aug. 21, to allow enough time for them to arrive by Election Day, Aug. 27. Meanwhile, some voting locations will be open to cast or drop off ballots in person on Election Day.

City of Tucson voters will be selecting candidates for mayor, and Tucson City Council offices in Wards 1, 2, and 4.

A couple of weeks ago, I told you about city’s Finance Department. It wasn’t a department that many of you were familiar with and I was glad to be able to get information to my constituents about it.

This week, I want to tell you a bit about the Parks and Recreation Department. It’s definitely higher profile than finance, and the work they do gets a great deal of support from all of you. The fact that we passed Proposition 407 last year is a great demonstration of that.

Late Night Streetcar Service Returns on Weekends

The Sun Link streetcar has resumed its late-night service schedule on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to offer service until 2 a.m. Hours of operation Monday through Wednesday (7 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) will not change. The extension of hours will be in effect through Dec. 14.

Streetcar riders can purchase a 1-Day ticket, SunGO card, or select another option. Additional service hours are due to increased demand from University of Arizona students.
