Tucson Parks and Recreation and Humana present the 36th annual Senior Olympic Festival, that will take place from January 6th - Febuary 1st, with activities happening at various location throughout the city.
Events will include volleyball, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and so much more.

Tucson voters yesterday elected Democrat Regina Romero as the city's new mayor. The current Ward 1 Council Member will replace retiring incumbent Jonathan Rothschild and become Tucson's first Latina mayor.

Pima County's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) group hosts its 22nd annual GIS Fair on Friday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Public Works Building, 201 N. Stone Ave. This year’s theme is "It’s a Dry Heat [GIS and the Sonoran Desert]."

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and Tucson Water are hosting a free workshop on low-water use gardening and irrigation methods to help people grow food while conserving water. The workshop is Saturday, Nov. 9, 9-11 a.m., at Las Milpitas de Cottonwood, 2405 S. Cottonwood Lane.

A public, community-visioning workshop focused on El Presidio, its cultural institution, and the connections to downtown will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Davis Bilingual Elementary Magnet School, 500 W. St. Mary's Road.
Rio Nuevo is working with stakeholders and Projects for Public Spaces to develop ideas to make the public spaces of El Presidio and its cultural institutions active, dynamic, and better connected to downtown.

The sixth annual Hats Off to Heroes Veterans Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center at Reid Park. The free event features local bands, food trucks, military displays, Tucson's largest veterans resource fair, and fireworks.

As construction of the new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel at the Tucson Convention Center continues, work needs to be conducted at Cushing Street for the project, so Cushing is now closed between Main Avenue and Meyer Avenue from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays, through late November. The road will reopen after 4 p.m. each day.

Installation of irrigation components and vegetation trimming in the median islands on Campbell Avenue from Sixth Street to Speedway Boulevard began today. During the work, the northbound median island travel lane on Campbell Avenue will be closed. The southbound travel lanes will remain open.
Crews will work weekdays, 6 a.m.-3:30 p.m., each day. Expect delays when driving in the area. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of November.

The City of Tucson is seeking fun, energetic, and enthusiastic recreation workers to help with KIDCO afterschool programs for children. This non-permanent position assists in planning activities for children ages 5 to 12 (with possible positions for programming of 12-14 year olds), prepares facilities for scheduled functions, and supervises youth activity participants.
Work hours are 1-6 p.m. Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply. The deadline is Nov. 7.

The City of Tucson is hiring legal municipal interns to provide administrative assistance, legal research, and writing support to attorneys in the Public Defender's Office. Interns also assist with misdemeanor offenses in Tucson City Court.
