Meerkats Are Back

City Hiring Electronics Technician

The City of Tucson is seeking an electronics technician to work in its Environmental & General Services Department (EGSD). Duties include helping troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronics communications systems owned by the City of Tucson.

This includes public safety communications, digital trunked radio systems, and fiber optic and microwave networks. The position is subject to on-call hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Tucson Ramping Up Efforts to Fill Potholes

With more than 300 open work orders for asphalt maintenance, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division is adding more personnel to its asphalt crews this week to fill potholes on City streets.

Last Friday’s rain and snow caused an increase in the number of pothole reports. TDOT will triple its typical repair staff to focus on filling potholes. The crews will work 10 hours a day, Monday through Friday, to fill and reduce the number of open asphalt work orders.

Pima County Health Department Meetings Continue on Tobacco Issues

The Pima County Health Department is hosting multiple community stakeholder meetings to discuss proposed County ordinance changes, giving retailers and community members the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions. The ordinance changes would raise the minimum legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21 years old, create a tobacco retail permit system, and amend the current smoking ordinance to include vaping products.

City Recruiting Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The City of Tucson is seeking a senior heavy equipment mechanic to work in its Environmental & General Services Department (EGSD). Duties include performing preventive maintenance and repairs of heavy vehicles and equipment, and rebuilding and installing engines.

A senior mechanic also makes service calls and helps maintain a safe work area. The position is for second shift and includes shift differential pay for hours worked after 6 p.m.

With over 300 open work orders for asphalt maintenance, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will add more personnel to its asphalt crews this week to fill potholes on City streets.
