The Pima Association of Governments (PAG), in partnership with the City of Tucson, is developing a Long-Range Regional Transit Plan. The draft plan was developed after a review of all public comments and surveys from 2018.

The Sun Link streetcar expects to board its 5 millionth passenger tomorrow, Oct. 31. In celebration of this milestone, Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will greet the 5 millionth rider on board and present him or her with prizes and gift certificates from businesses along the route.

Tucson's first responders are urging parents, kids, and drivers to be extra cautious during Halloween activities tomorrow night.
The Tucson Police Department (TPD) says young children can easily get distracted by lights and dart across the street without looking for cars first. Nationwide, more kids get hit and killed by cars on Halloween than on any other day of the year.

A new HAWK pedestrian crossing signal is being installed at the intersection of 22nd Street and Belvedere Avenue. Crews are working 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on weekdays, and two lanes of travel will be maintained in each direction on 22nd Street.
Expect delays when driving in this work area and obey all traffic control signs. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November, barring changes due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

City of Tucson Parks and Recreation and Reid Park Zoo invite the public to participate in a discussion regarding the future of Gene C. Reid Park and the Reid Park Zoo master plan.
The public can stop by the open house to obtain information on park improvement projects slated to be completed with the Tucson Delivers Parks + Connections 2018 bond funds. Park projects include a new splash pad, new playground, improvements to the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, and improvements to the walking path.

If you haven't already mailed back your voted ballot to the City Clerk's Office for the Nov. 5 general election, you have until this Wednesday, Oct. 30, to make sure it arrives in enough time to be counted. Meanwhile, some voting locations will be open to cast or drop off ballots in person on Election Day.

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild was honored by current and former board members of the Tucson Industrial Development Authority (IDA) for his help in providing access to affordable housing for area residents. Tucson IDA President Larry Lucero presented Rothschild with a Hemis Kachina, which represents abundance to the Hopi Tribe.

Tucson Parks and Recreation will host Udall's Haunted Playground on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m., at Udall Park, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road. The evening will include trunk-or-treat, games, music, costume parade, and a safe haunted playground under the lights.

The City of Tucson is seeking heavy equipment operators to work in its Transportation department. Duties include maintaining streets, roadways, drainage ways, and other City property.
Operators also grade terrain, lay asphalt and chip seal, hoist large heavy objects, dig trenches, excavate tree stumps, and sweep and vacuum streets. Work requires climbing in and out of equipment and exposure to extremes in weather and temperatures.

If I had to rank the subjects of the calls my staff gets the most often at my office, numbers one and two are rezonings and transportation issues. I’m not sure which comes out on top, but those are by far the things that occupy most of the time here at the office.
Our Transportation Department is responsible for maintaining roads, sidewalks and our general streetscape in Tucson. They also maintain many of our washes.

Cyclovia Tucson takes place on Sunday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event returns to South 12th Avenue for “Cyclovia en la Doce” and provides nearly four miles of car-free city streets for Tucsonans of all ages to enjoy. The route extends from the Julian Wash Archeological Park at The Loop (West 39th Street and South 12th Avenue) to Mission Manor Park, just south of Drexel Road.
