Paul's Note - May 17, 2019

I attended a ceremony to honor Jeffrey Ross, a Tucson Police officer who was gunned down in 1982. We unveiled a plaque in his honor on Thursday. Here is a bit from the plaque:

Jeffrey H. Ross was a beloved friend, son, brother and husband who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his community.

Grant Road Open House Phase 3 & 4 - Public Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite you to attend a public open house for Grant Road Phase 3 & 4.

Grant Road Phase 3 & 4 project segment information will be available from Palo Verde to Venice Place. This will include design plans, land use planning, right-of-way acquisitions, landscape and streetscape designs as well as public art.

Party with Your Dog This Weekend at Udall Park

Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting a Bark in the Park event at Morris K. Udall Dog Park, 7290 E. Tanque Verde Road, on Sunday, May 19, from 9-11 a.m.

Free activities will include kids face painting, canvas art with dog prints, a photo booth for dogs and their humans, music, hot dogs (for humans), and refreshments. There will be a Tucson Police Department K-9 demo at 10 a.m.

City Hiring System Operators for Water Department

The City of Tucson is seeking experienced water system operators to join the Tucson Water department. Operators are responsible for the central control operations of the potable and reclaimed water distribution systems. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is used to operate, monitor, and control water treatment facilities, distribution systems, and related equipment.

Arizona Symphonic Winds at Udall Park

The Arizona Symphonic Winds continues its spring concert series on Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Udall Park, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road. All concerts are free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. at the László Veres Amphitheater in the park.

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, a picnic basket, and enjoy an evening of entertainment for the whole family. The concert schedule continues every Saturday at 7 p.m., through June 1.
