All Tucson Parks and Recreation fields are closed today and tomorrow (Feb. 22-23) due to the rare Tucson snow. Sentinel Peak Park ("A" Mountain) also is closed due to weather, but is expected to reopen tomorrow if conditions improve.
The Citizen’s Commission on Public Service and Compensation is considering a recommendation to voters concerning salaries for Mayor and Council. If approved by the Commission, the recommendation may be placed on the Nov. 5, 2019, City ballot.
The Commission invites you to comment on this issue during a series of public meetings. The next will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at the Patrick K. Hardesty Multi-Service Center, 1100 S. Alvernon Way (Large Meeting Room). The meeting begins at 6 p.m.
The City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) is processing nearly all rooftop solar permits and development packages electronically and adding new permit types quarterly in a multi-stage effort to go paperless. On Friday, March 1, PDSD will begin reviewing all inspection requests electronically.
A public dashboard soon will be available to allow customers to schedule and track inspection requests and view inspection results.
The City is seeking a plumber to work in its Environmental & General Services Department (EGSD). Duties include maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and installing plumbing, commercial irrigation and related systems, and components in City-owned facilities.
A plumber works independently with little to no supervision. The position is subject to on-call, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The position is responsible for performing technical land survey work involved in preliminary, topographic, and construction field engineering surveys required for property and right-of-way determination. A technician also records field notes and calculations, interprets maps, and adjusts survey equipment for the accuracy of measurements.

Thousands of people watched today's 94th annual Tucson Rodeo Parade that started this morning near Park Avenue and Ajo Way and ended at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds at 6th Avenue and Irvington Road.
The rodeo, known as La Fiesta de Los Vaqueros, began last weekend, bringing cowboys and cowgirls come to town. The rodeo features bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and more. Cowgirls take the reins in barrel racing.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) will host a document shredding event on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 8-10 a.m., at the Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way. This will be a drive-through service.
Acceptable items for shredding are any personal paper documents that are loose, folded, stapled, or in envelopes. Shredding will be completed on-site before you leave.
Freezing temperatures are predicted for Wednesday morning (27°) and again on Saturday (28°), according to the National Weather Service. Exposed pipes and plumbing will be at risk.
