Final paving operations on Valencia Road west of Kolb Road are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 17, 2019 and last through the end of the day on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Crews plan to begin paving at 5:30 a.m. each day. There will be intermittent travel lane restrictions on both eastbound and westbound Valencia Road during the work.
The Tucson Fire Department (TFD) yesterday, June 11, responded to two near-drowning calls within two hours of each other on different sides of town. The first involved an approximately 12-year-old male at the 1000 block of East Benson Highway.

Beginning tomorrow, June 11, travel on Valencia Road, both east and west of Kolb Road will shift to the respective travel lanes. The traffic shift will be in place until the project is finished in late July.
The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is hosting its annual summer track and field and road races throughout June and July. Track and field events will be held Tuesdays, through July 23, at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer.
Road races are every Thursday, through July 25, at various locations. This week's races will be held at the south end of Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., with races starting at 6 p.m.

In last week’s newsletter, I had a short blurb about the tariffs that the President threatened against Mexico. In a Tweet, the President promised a 5% tariff on goods from Mexico starting next week. These tariffs could rise as high to 25% by September according to the schedule in the President’s plan.
We all need to understand what the economic impact would be to raise prices on goods from Arizona’s biggest trading partner.
