Tucson Sugar Skulls Play Final Game of the Regular Season Tomorrow at TCC

Tucson's Indoor Football League (IFL) team wraps up its inaugural regular season tomorrow, June 15, at the Tucson Arena. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. against the Quad City Steamwheelers.

If the Tucson Sugar Skulls win, the team will pack up and advance to its first playoff game the following weekend to meet either the Green Bay Blizzard or Sioux Falls Storm. If the Sugar Skulls lose, the season ends short of a goal the franchise set when its formation was announced in August.

Reid Park Zoo Offers Free Admission to Military Members on Flag Day

 To honor the men and women who serve and have served in the U.S. military, Reid Park Zoo is offering free admission to active and retired military members on Flag Day this Friday, June 14. Along with free admission, the offer includes the option for military personnel to purchase half-price tickets for family members.

The Zoo is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some new additions include the Temple of Tiny Monkeys (with squirrel monkeys) and expanded habitats for meerkats and otters.

Live Music at Lunchtime Continues in Jácome Plaza

The Downtown Tucson Partnership presents live, local performances each Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., in Jácome Plaza, in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave. Grab lunch from your favorite downtown spot or food truck, bring a friend or some coworkers, and enjoy the free lunchtime tunes. The concert series runs through July 2.

Summer Track and Field Events Continue This Week

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is hosting its annual summer track and field and road races throughout June and July. Track and field events will be held Tuesdays, through July 23, at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer.

Road races are every Thursday, through July 25, at various locations. This week's races will be held at the south end of Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., with races starting at 6 p.m.

Parks and Rec Hiring Pottery Instructors

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is hiring experienced pottery and ceramics instructors. These positions are responsible for planning, instructing, and supervising pottery and ceramics classes.

Instructors must be able to explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movements of body, hands, and feet to achieve proficiency. The deadline to apply is June 16.
